Harley Jane Kozak, a sometimes actress, lives with her family in California’s Conejo Valley. Her debut novel, Dating Dead Men, won the Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards. Its sequel was Dating is Murder, followed by Dead Ex and A Date You Can’t Refuse. Her short prose has appeared in Ms. Magazine, Soap Opera Digest, The Sun, The Santa Monica Review, and the anthologies Mystery Muses, This is Chick Lit, A Hell Of A Woman, Butcher Knives and Body Counts, and the upcoming Crimes by Moonlight, edited by Charlaine Harris. Join Us For Build a Book 2009-10!
BUILD-A-BOOK is San Antonio Romance Authors’ [SARA] uniquely designed series of hands-on workshops that educate aspiring writers how to write, sell and promote fiction in the twenty-first century. With this low-cost series of workshops led by published authors, SARA helps hundreds of aspiring writers get their stories written—and published. We are very excited to offer this service to the general public and invite anyone to join us who has ever thought of putting pen to paper for publication. Our award-winning published SARA members will teach what they know best--from plotting to characterization, to how to acquire an agent and promote the finished book. Join us for information, fun and a novel way to learn about the book business!
Note: Our Build a Book workshops take the place of the monthly meetings for September, January, April, and June.

Our next series of Build a Book Workshops will take place on
Saturday, January 9: Workshop #2 - Deep POV, Dialogue, and Characterization Stereotypes
Saturday, April 17: Workshop #3 – Pacing/Turning Points and GMC/Conflict
Saturday, June 19: Workshop #4 – Scene & Sequel and Narrative
Each workshop will run from 8:30am - 12:30pm. Depending on the length of each presentation, 2-3 workshops will be offered at each session. We will do our best to cover the most popular topics voted on in a recent SARA Biz poll.

Registration fees:
SARA members: $13.00 per workshop or $15 per workshop if paid with PayPal
Non-SARA members: $20.00 per workshop or $22 per workshop if paid with PayPal
Register for all workshops and pay a total fee of $33.00 for SARA members and $45.00 for non-SARA members. Total fee if paying by PayPal: $35 for SARA members and $47 for non-SARA members.

SARA Refund Policy
The refund policy for special events (including, but not limited to, Merritt Conference, the Fall Workshop and any other event for which a fee is charged) is 100% of the registration fee if cancellation is made thirty (30) days or more before the event, and 50% if made less than thirty (30) days and prior to seven (7) days before the event. There will be no refund if cancellation is made seven (7) or less days prior to the event.
